The new Mustek gSmart mini 2 may not have the most eye-catching of names, but it produces the most eye-catching results we have seen on any miniature digital camera to date!

Mustek have been at the forefront of digital imaging products since 1988 when they made the world's first handheld scanner - reassurance that the gSmart mini 2 is designed by engineers who know what they're doing when it comes to digital imaging!

This is a true 1.3 megapixel digital camera (some sites may quote 2.1 megapixel, but that is only achieved by software and not a true indication of the camera resolution). Thanks to its 16 MB of internal memory it can store up to 216 pictures in 640 x 480 mode, or 36 pics in the top quality 1.3 megapixel mode!

Here is the really clever bit - the GSmart mini2 needs no batteries! Inside the slim case is a lithium polymer rechargeable battery, which recharges from your computer's USB port. The lithium polymer battery lasts longer than alkaline batteries in similar cameras too!

And there's more! The mini 2 (for thats what we call it in the Gadgets.co.uk office ;) is also a digital video recorder, recording almost 2 minutes of video.

Close up pictures can be achieved by twisting the lens to macro mode, changing the focal distance to between 20 and 50cm.

For those that like taking pictures of themselves (yes, we know who you are...) the mini 2 has a 10 second delay self-timer, something often missing from mini cameras
